Meditation

“The surest sign that God exists is the increasing heart-bursting joy felt in meditation.” – Paramahansa Yogananda

When bodily motions cease and thoughts are still, the Lord begins to appear as peace and divine bliss on the altar of tranquility and changelessness. Self-Realization Fellowship teaches this great art of personal God-communion, of coming into conscious touch with the Source of all light, all power and all bliss. Central to Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings are scientific techniques of concentration and meditation that lead to the direct personal experience of God. These yoga methods quiet body and mind, and make it possible to withdraw one’s energy and attention from the usual turbulence of thoughts, emotions, and sensory perceptions. In that clarity of that inner stillness, one comes to experience a deepening interior peace and awareness of God’s presence.

When practiced regularly the three basic techniques of meditation taught by Paramahansa Yogananda lead unfailingly to deeper levels of spiritual awareness and perception. These techniques may be learned through the SRF Lessons sent by mail for personal study from the Mother Center in Los Angeles, California. Applications are available online at: www.srflessons.org

If you have not yet enrolled for the Lessons, basic instructions on how to meditate can be found on the SRF website which you can use right away to begin experiencing the peace and communion with the Divine that meditation brings. Follow this link for instruction in Beginning Meditation
